Saudi Aramco Awards $25bn in Contracts for Gas System and Jafurah Development
Saudi Aramco has awarded $25bn-worth of contracts for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) works and other services for the third expansion phase of the Master Gas System (MGS-3) and the second expansion phase of the Jafurah unconventional gas development. These contracts were officially signed at a ceremony held on 30 June at Aramco’s headquarters in Dhahran.

Phase 1: Master Gas System (MGS-3) Expansion
Value: $8.8bn
Objective: To increase the size of the Master Gas System network and raise its total capacity by an additional 3.15 billion standard cubic feet a day by 2028.
Scope: Installation of about 4,000 kilometers of pipelines and 17 new gas compression trains.

Phase 2: Jafurah Unconventional Gas Development
Value: $12.4bn
Objective: To construct gas compression facilities, associated pipelines, and expand the Jafurah gas plant, including construction of gas processing trains, utilities, sulphur, and export facilities.
Scope: Expansion of Jafurah gas plant and construction of new Riyas natural gas liquids (NGL) fractionation facilities in Jubail.
